Overview of (Olopatadine Eye Drops):

OLGERIA Ophthalmic Solution contains Olopatadine 0.1%.
Olopatadine inhibits the release of histamine from mast cells. It is a relatively selective histamine H1 antagonist that inhibits the in vivo and in vitro type 1 immediate hypersensitivity reaction including inhibition of histamine induced effects on human conjunctival epithelial cells.


Active ingredients

Olopatadine hydrochloride






Used to treat seasonal allergic conjunctivitis.

Relieve symptoms like itchy red, swollen and watery eyes.

Prevent irritation and inflammation.


1-2 drops into affected eye twice daily (morning and evening). Remove soft contact lenses before adding eye drop

As directed by physician

Direction for use

Tear off the seal from sterile tamper proof ROOP cap.

Tighten the cap on the nozzle.

The spike in the cap will pierce the tip of vial.

Disperse drops with gentle pressure.

Replace the cap after every use.


  • For external use, but not for injection.

  • Do not swallow solution.

  • If solution changes color or become cloudy, do not use.

  • To avoid contamination, do not touch bottle tip.

  • Avoid direct contact with eye.

  • Close bottle tightly, immediately after use.

  • Discard in 1 month after opening.

  • Remove contact lens while applying drop.

  • If irritation, pain, redness or changes in vision occur or if the patient’s condition worsens or persists for more than 72 hours, treatment should be discontinued.


Store in a cool and dry place

General precautions

Inform your doctor about your medical history, lifestyle, if allergic to anything, infections, medication (prescribed or non prescribed) and most important inform if wearing contact lens.

Most important information patient should follow, after applying eye drop blurred vision for few seconds, therefore try to avoid driving or use of any machines as person feel dizziness. If sign and symptoms increased or worsen consult immediately with pharmacist or doctor.

Intimate your doctor/pharmacist if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or breast-feeding.

During pregnancy use if required, clearly give general detail to yours pharmacist or doctors, and discuss risk and benefits about the prescribed formulation.

Olopatidine is not used for the treatment of irritation and redness caused due to contact lens.

Side effects

The combination of antihistamine give many adverse effect.

The use of eye drop with proper precautions, if not used properly foreign ocular substance enters eye and give side effects like:

  • Headache

  • Blurred vision

  • Burning or stinging sensation in eye

  • Cold syndrome

  • Dry eye

  • Foreign body sensation

  • Keratitis

  • Nausea and vomiting

  • Lid inflammation

  • Rhinitis, pharyngitis, sinusitis

  • Change in bud taste


There are no well documented contraindications for olopatidine.

The contraindication occur in patients cause hypersensitivity to excipients used in formulation olopatidine.
